Day 1 post-op morning

Haley had a rough night. They had to wake her up every hour to get her to do things like talk and move. Jeremy stayed here with her. I was with the baby who didn’t sleep much better. Jeremy went to my parents home to hopefully try to get some rest. Thankfully Haley has been sleeping very well since coming back from another MRI she had this morning. I would love to see the before MRI and this MRI side by side. In fact we want to get a copy just to show her when she is older. She might be interested to know how strong she was at 2 years old.

She does not like being attached to everything. She does not realize it is necessary. One of the lines was taken out this morning. We love the small milestones! She will wake up say a couple sentences and go back to sleep. She has already told me she wants to go home. Sadly that will not be for a while.

Thankfully when she wakes up she will be able to have a normal diet. No more restricting her milk or juice. Last night apparently she just wanted to take a little drink and hold her cup. That comforted her as well as her “hospital blanket” (the one she received from the EEG). Unfortunately 6 hours before the MRI they had to take her cup away from her which then caused her to be irritable.

Her face is swollen. It will continue to swell before going down for another day or so.  They did NOT shave a lot of hair. She has a trail that is about 7 inches long in the shape of a backward “C”. I am thankful we will be able to cover most of that up with her remaining hair. For now it is hard to look at. The drain is even harder, but hopefully that will come out later today.

I can’t believe the amount of medication they are giving her, but I do realize it is necessary at this point. She did just go through a major surgery!

I am a mom to Five Little Chefs who love to cook and create anything with their hands. Watching over 10 additional hands keeps me busy but is so much fun! We laugh and cry everyday, but then want to do it again the next day. That is how we know we are enjoying life!

I have been reading along the last several days. So happy to hear that she did so well with the surgery, and already seems to be bouncing back. It’s amazing how resilient little ones can be..

Wow. She’s doing so well, especially for a two year old. Our prayers are continuing.
