Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Today is the first day of June! This month we are starting a family favorites series! Most of the recipes we have made so far have been a first run at a recipe chosen by my Little Chefs. They have been LOVING cooking and trying new foods, but are wanting some of our tried and true recipes. We decided they could make our family favorites for the first time.
Baked Parmesan Tilapia has been loved by my family for a long time now! I always have the ingredients on hand. It is easy to prepare. It is VERY well received, even by the smallest Little Chefs.
This time we made a video of the process.  I’m not sure if my favorite part of the movie is Little Chef A eating the crumb off her hand, or Little Chef D starring down Little Chef A because all the fish were not topped and she was ending the video!

Ingredients
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 Tbsp mayonnaise
2 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
2 pounds tilapia fillets

Directions
1. Preheat your oven’s broiler. Grease a broiling pan or line pan with aluminum foil.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Season with dried basil, pepper, onion powder and celery salt. Mix well and set aside.
3. Arrange fillets in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil a few inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the fillets over and broil for a couple more minutes. Remove the fillets from the oven and cover them with Parmesan cheese mixture on the top side. Broil for 2 more minutes or until the topping is browned and fish flakes easily with a fork. Be careful not to over cook the fish.

I love to cook, but I've always stayed away from fish…this looks like a good & easy recipe for me!

I'll have to try that! I did a lemon pepper Tilapia and it didn't go over well with my family. They love Parmesan cheese, so maybe that will work!

Sounds delicious…my kids would love this, too. I've always been a big believer in kids in the kitchen, and as a result my teens can really cook!

I love this recipe! We've had it several times and while I was a little leery of the mayo in it, it's delicious! Love the kids making this 🙂
