Cinnamon Syrup

Cinnamon Syrup from fivelittlechefs.com. Use ingredients already in your pantry! Super simple to make! Quick recipe! #cinnamon #syrup #recipe #breakfast

Happy International Waffle Day! We decided to share with you our Cinnamon Syrup that you can put over your favorite waffle recipe! If you don’t have a favorite waffle recipe I highly suggest you try Almost Famous Pecan Waffles they are filling and wonderful! It seems almost once a week we have breakfast for dinner. Maybe it is because I am becoming more and more exhausted at dinner time or most likely because we just like breakfast foods. Not only are they quick to make, we have the ingredients on hand all the time and it is a low cost meal.

One way to change things up is to vary the fillings or the toppings. We have loved putting cinnamon in our Cinnamon Waffles and thought we’d put cinnamon in syrup. The result was wonderful! This syrup is not only great for waffles, but we soon want to try drizzling it over sauteed apples or ice cream!

First all the ingredients, except for the butter are measured out and added to a saucepan. I love how Little Chef A levels off the cinnamon with the lid. Did you notice her tongue sticking out while measuring the vanilla? That is how I know she is concentrating really hard. She is a little apprehensive when measuring out liquid ingredients into small teaspoons.

After boiling and thickening remove from the heat and add in the butter then combine well. Serve over waffles or pancakes, or as a dip for apples. The syrup with thicken as it cools. If it cools too quickly zap it in the microwave for a few seconds.

I am a mom to Five Little Chefs who love to cook and create anything with their hands. Watching over 10 additional hands keeps me busy but is so much fun! We laugh and cry everyday, but then want to do it again the next day. That is how we know we are enjoying life!
