How To Make A Spaceship from an Egg

Using a large plastic egg, some colored paper, popsicle sticks and glue you can make a spaceship like Meet The Robinsons, Little Einsteins, The Jetsons.

One day while perusing the craft store I discovered a large egg. I thought surely there must be something fun that I can do with this, so I bought it. They come in a few different colors, but I chose the yellow. After some brainstorming I thought what if we made a spaceship. There are many different kinds that have an egg or a dome shape that kids who watch movies are aware of such as Little Einsteins, The Jetsons or Meet The Robinsons.

Today we decided to make a spaceship like the one in Meet The Robinsons. In case you need a refresher, as I did, this is what it looks like in the movie.

See how it has an egg like shape in the middle? We thought this could really work.

We got out the construction paper, scissors, glue and tape. We began cutting. After all it is just paper and if we mess up we can just cut another one. After we agreed upon the size of the wings then was time to decorate it. If you weren’t making one similar to the movie you could let your kids use their imaginations and create whatever they wanted.

To give the wings a little more stabilization we taped popsicle sticks to the underside.

A short time later we ended up with this great spaceship. My kids liked the wings being a different color then the body of the spaceship.

This would be such a fun activity for a playdate or for a birthday party. The only problem is you need to plan now and get the eggs while they are still in stores for Easter. Need more? I am a mom to Five Little Chefs who love to cook and create anything with their hands. Watching over 10 additional hands keeps me busy but is so much fun! We laugh and cry everyday, but then want to do it again the next day. That is how we know we are enjoying life!
