Easter Egg Planter

When we made a trip to the local dollar store for supplies for our Easter Egg Door Decoration we picked up a few other supplies. You know when you have an idea so you buy a few supplies even when you are not sure if it will work out or not? That is what we did. This craft actually took about 10 minutes. We wanted to create something before school so we put this together. The girls were overly excited to help this time. Supplies: Rectangular planter Rectangular foam Rocks ...

Mini Easter Basket

A couple years ago, I believe it was, I saw a post where a pop top can was opened from the bottom. It was cleaned out, refilled and a label was put on the outside for a christmas neighbor gift. I can't remember where I saw it, but here is another example with the instructions on the can portion. With the beginning of an idea from my mom I decided to use one of these cans I still had stashed away to turn it into an Easter basket. Supplies: can (see link above for instructions) blue ...

Easter Egg Stitches

Last year I taught my Little Chefs how to stitch on a plastic canvas to make these fun Stitched Easter Eggs. I showed them how to do each stitch and then let them loose. They created these on their own. (Actually, I did thread and rethread the yarn over and over and over again as it was pulled out of the needle.) They did ALL of the stitching. This is why this piece of art was displayed in our home for a very long time. They were all extremely proud of their work! Today I thought I'd share ...

Easter Linky Party

I love seeing all the new holiday posts. I thought it would be fun to create a dedicated linky party just for Easter. Anything Easter related is welcome. I will leave this party open until the beginning of May. Thanks for joining and be sure to help spread the word. An InLinkz Link-up

Challenge: Shed 300 In 30 Days

The weather is getting warmer where we live but it always does this and then gets really cold one last time. I am trying not to be excited about the warmer weather yet. After a long winter I want to open the windows and air out the house, declutter and make things brighter and sunnier inside to reflect the outside. With now 5 Little Chefs we have a lot of stuff. Each person doesn't need to have a lot to collectively have a lot. I do know it is a lot easier to keep things picked up with less ...

Saint Patrick Day FREE Wordart

My Little Chefs were out of school so we decided to take a little vacation...a much needed vacation. We went to California to spend some time at Disneyland and with family.  Vacations are not totally relaxing when we have 5 kids and 2 being hard to handle. Amazingly it went better then I expected. The car ride was not bad. We tried a few different tricks for travelling. (interested in hearing them?) We stayed in a not so great hotel and a couple better ones. We had a few bad mornings at ...

Christmas Bingo

One of the things my Little Chefs love about Christmas is the lights and the decorations. We frequently take a new route home or go for a drive to see all the lights and decorations on homes. This year instead of just checking them out we decided to play Christmas Bingo! This is a great game to get everyone out of the house, yet still keep them contained and warm. You can warm up the car before everyone climbs in, or bring some extra blankets to put on your laps. One of the things we like ...

Christmas Tags using the Cricut Mini

There are so many ways to dress up a present. We thought it would be fun to create a couple tags using the Cricut Mini. The Cricut has so many cartridges and options but we used the basic shapes that came free with the machine. We discovered the machine is easy for kids to use. They are able to visually see where the shape will be cut by reading the grid on the screen and on the mat. For the first tag we cut out the first two shapes. The snowflake we cut out with a punch. Next, Little Chef D ...

Etched Ceramic Loaf Pan

Remember the Easy Striped Glass Vase? Today I'm sharing something similar. I found these cute mini loaf pans at a craft store. They were a solid red color. I don't mind the red but it was a little plain. I decided to take some glass etching paint and a stencil and see if I could make it a little more interesting. I chose snowflakes because snow is not as seasonal as a christmas icon. Materials Martha Stewart Glass Etching kit with brush Martha Stewart adhesive stencil Mini loaf ...

Handprint Turkey

We have already shared a Pom Pom Turkey and a Yarn Turkey but we are having fun with different turkey crafts for kids! The kids will get a little dirty with this Handprint Turkey because of the paint but if you have a sink nearby or baby wipes the clean up will be quick. This turkey craft is great for all ages. The young ones are even able to participate this time. Materials: construction paper foam paint brush paint, a few different colors (we used red, green, blue, white) s...

You are people watching anyway or talking on the phone with your friends and/or family checking in on what deals they were able to score, why not play a little game at the same time? I have created a PDF version in a 8.5 x 11 size and also a smaller 4 per page version. Choose the one that works for you and print it ...

Easy Striped Glass Vase

With the holidays just around the corner decorating and gift giving ideas are in full swing. Martha Stewart Crafts has a full line of products to help. She has a multi-surface craft system which includes craft paint, glass paint, decoupage and jewelry. I used the glass etching cream to create this beautiful striped glass vase. It was simple to make and looks fantastic. It can be used not only for the next upcoming holiday's but as a vase filled with your favorite flowers. Materials M...

Scarecrow Face

Today we are sharing a craft that can be done with what is already in your home! I love it when I don't need to go to the store for more supplies for a simple craft with my little ones. Materials: paper plate (technically the sturdier the better, ours didn't work as well as it could) glue scissors or paper cutter 1 piece brown construction paper 1 piece yellow construction paper 1 piece orange construction paper colored markers pencil I do allow my Little Chefs to use this ...

Bat Sucker

When I was young I remember making a bat sucker like this for Halloween. I remember it being an easy craft, quick and fun to make. I thought I could give my Little Chefs a chance to give it a try. Bat Sucker Materials: black construction paper scissors orange ribbon black ribbon black spoon 2 googly eyes sucker First, use a bowl as a guide for your circle shape. Trace around the bowl, then cut out the circle. Fold the circle in half, then cut along the line to create two ...

Halloween Treat Favor

This school year is the first year in a very long time that I do not have a Preschooler. Each year the preschoolers would have a cute Halloween party and each child brought treats to exchange. My Little Chefs always looked forward to that day! It is ironic that this year when I have no preschooler I create a fun favor. This Halloween Treat Favor is made from a piece of patterned paper folded into an envelope where you can place a treat. Close the envelope and attach a circle with an embell...

Trick or Treat Bag

Tonight we have a Halloween party and that got us thinking about the actual night of Trick or Treating. Where we live the streets are darker then the streets around our previous home. We found some glow in the dark duct tape and thought that would be a perfect idea for keeping the kids safe as they crisscross the streets. We thought of all the accessories we could make but then remembered everyone would be in their costumes. The one item everyone would have no matter their costume would be ...

Glow in the Dark Bats

Do you have a lot of pony beads laying around like we do? It seems to be the first choice for necklace making along with a piece of yarn.  For some reason no matter how hard they try to pick all of the beads up there are a few strays. When you step on those little beads they hurt! I discovered online that pony beads can melt. We thought it would be fun to melt them down to make glow in the dark bats! This project seemed easy enough for even the Little Chefs. We got out our supplies; a ...

Halloween Scavenger Hunt

We love October in our home! The anticipation of celebrating a birthday, deciding which costume to wear and decorating for Halloween makes this month exciting. Some days are good and some are bad for Haley. We needed a Halloween activity we could do if she was having a day where she didn't want to see anyone new. We needed an activity we could do in the cold with popcorn and hot chocolate. Either one on their own is a party at our house, but both popcorn and hot chocolate is an extra special ...
