The Legend of the Tooth Ninja

When Little Chef Dad was growing up his mother told them stories about Sammy and Tommy. Sammy was always the bad child and Tommy was always the good. His mom would teach them life lessons such as sharing through these stories. Occasionally Little Chef Dad will tell Sammy and Tommy stories to our kids. What if these stories were written down and made into a book? I would have no problem retelling the stories that I do not know. We all tell stories to our kids whether it be at bedtime or to help them through sticky situations. What do we do next? We do as Little Chef Dad, we tell the same story to the next child because the first child will say remember the story you told me about Sammy … [Read more...]

Fire Wire #Beef #Kabobs from fivelittlechefs.com #kidscooking

Labor Day is just a few days away and that means more grilling! While I do not let my Little Chefs grill I still believe they can participate in the preparation of the meal. This week we are offering you a Labor Day BBQ Meal. My thoughtful sister got me a product I hadn't seen before wondering if it would be easy for the Little Chefs to use as a new way to make kabobs. Fire Wire Stainless Steel Flexible Grilling Skewer, Set of 4 is sold at Amazon as well as other online locations. With my new baby making 5 Little Chefs it is difficult to WANT to take everyone to go shopping. When I do shop it is for a purpose only, not for pleasure. We rush as quickly as possible getting as many things on … [Read more...]

Thank you Country Crock for sponsoring this post. With my Little Chefs, life tends to get a bit crazy.....especially at dinner time. Those are the times we pull out the casserole recipe cards. Casseroles are a fast, simple, and not to expensive way to feed our family. We love that we can toss the ingredients together and cook - this allows me to help my Little Chefs with homework, reading or just to play with them and have fun while dinner is cooking. Reasons we LOVE casseroles - We can get Creative - many times, my Little Chefs will search the fridge for other veggies to cut up and add to our chicken casserole. Thank you Werther's Original Sugar Free Candy for sponsoring this post. I think when it comes to a Sweet Tooth - my Little Chefs, and yes, I will admit myself as well - have a crazy Sweet Tooth!!  I recently have started to really pay attention to the amount of sugar My Little Chefs, and myself,  eat on a daily basis.  Maybe this came about because of our recent Dentist Appointments and also due to the fact that my sister-in-law was diagnosed with diabetes in her early 20's, she is very healthy and  has no family history.  As I was watching and reading labels, I was amazed of how much sugar my kids where eating.  I needed to cut back some of the extra sugar. My Little Chefs are … [Read more...]

pizzastone

Our family started a familiar tradition of Friday night Family, Pizza & Movie night! We would typically order out pizza - because most of the time, once Friday rolls around, who wants to cook! But then we started to really enjoy making our own pizzas.  The Little Chefs LOVE to create their own pizza creations. So, Friday night became homemade pizza and movie night.  With all the pizzas we were making - I knew I needed to upgrade to a pizza stone! I looked around for a great pizza stone - I had heard of so many that would crack within a few uses.  Then we came across California Pizza Stones!! And from the look of it, their stones are indestructible.  They do come out and tell you … [Read more...]

chinetpan

No more flimsy aluminum pans will be used at my house!!  These are amazing - they are disposable baking dishes that lets you take your food from oven to table to freezer to microwave, all in a non-stick pan. So, I don't need to worry about taking a meal or treat to a potluck or neighbor and worrying about loosing my favorite permanent pan (which seems to have happened quite a few times!).  And these pans look great, and pretty sturdy and they are just awesome! We made a recipe of Caramel Cinnamon Rolls  to try out these new pans. This recipe was perfect, because it makes 2 pans of Cinnamon Rolls. I wanted to see if there was a difference - using my favorite pan and using the disposable … [Read more...]

Aqua Chef Giveaway

aquachefimage

As you know we watch a lot of cooking shows! We have seen Sous Vide cooking there so when we were given the opportunity to review the Aqua Chef we were very excited. The judges always comment how the food that was cooked with this method is so tender and perfectly cooked. We obtained the same results with the exception of salmon. For some reason that did not work for us-the taste and texture was very off. Right out of the box the Aqua Chef was a little overwhelming with all the parts. Once they were all put together it didn't seem as bad. The instructions were lacking. I read and reread thinking I was missing something, but then just decided to give it a shot and start cooking. The Little … [Read more...]
