We have been having hot 100 degree days lately. When our days are this hot we are constantly drinking anything and everything to stay hydrated. Sometimes we go for a “special drink” or make our own when my Little Chefs work hard weeding or score a goal in the soccer game. Fresh Strawberry Lemonade is a three ingredient recipe quick to whip up when you need something special. I love the use of fresh strawberries, especially from the garden. I always think when our strawberries are ripe we will make so many strawberry recipes (and I do have a list) but then my Little Chefs snack outside and I am not left with enough. Oh well! The grocery store strawberries work just as well.
Wash one 16 ounce package of strawberries. Cut off the green tops then cut in halves. I do need to specify green tops to my Little Chefs. They know exactly what I am talking about. They will make sure all the green is gone and not just part – yes that has happened.
Transfer the cut strawberries to a blender and add one 12 ounce container of frozen pink lemonade concentrate.
Blend until smooth. If you want to add a few ice cubes go ahead. My strawberries weren’t as cold as I liked so we added 7 ice cubes because that is all that was left in the tray. Yes, I did say tray. We are mocked for having ice trays all the time, but we do not have a fridge with an automatic ice maker. Perhaps we will when this fridge gives up on us, which will probably be soon because this one is going on 13 years, we will get a fancy one!
In a large pitcher or punch bowl add a two liter lemon lime soda, then add in the blender mixture. If you must stir do so sparingly. The more you stir the more the fizz goes away. Grab a tall glass with plenty of ice and take a break from the hot hot weather.
- 16 ounce fresh strawberries
- 12 ounce pink lemonade concentrate
- 1 2 liter lemon lime soda
- Cut the green stems off the fresh strawberries, then half the strawberries
- Combine the cut strawberries and pink lemonade concentrate in a blender. Blend until smooth.
- In a large pitcher or punch bowl combine blender ingredients with lemon lime soda. Just barely stir to combine. Too much stirring will reduce the fizz.
- Serve with plenty of ice.
