Refrigerator Rolls

Ingredients
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons shortening
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons lukewarm water
  • 1 egg, well-beaten
  • 3½-4 cups flour, sifted
Instructions
  1. Combine hot water, salt, shortening and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Cool to lukewarm.
  3. Add yeast softened in lukewarm water.
  4. Add egg and ½ of the flour. Beat well.
  5. Stir in more flour - enough to make the dough easy to handle.
  6. Grease top and cover.
  7. Store in refrigerator.
  8. Keeps 4-5 days - cut off dough as needed.
  9. Can be made into Parkerhouse or cloverleaf rolls.
  10. Let rise for 1½ hours.
  11. Bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.
